About Danny's BagelDanny's Italian/American RestaurantDanny's Bagel was established in 1997 producing the American style bread called Bagel (bay-guhl) and Sub Rolls. Initially providing Delivery service by motorcycles and scooters of Bagel and Sub Sandwiches we then started to create Pizza, Pasta, Wings and much more to be offered to the Local Expat and Chinese community. Then from 1998 through 2007 we supplied international school lunches that included American, Chinese, Korean and Japanese style menu items from our bakery and kitchen in the Haizhu section of Guangzhou. Grades preschool through 12th could enjoy favorites such as Mac & Cheese, Cheese Steak Subs, Bi Bim Bop, Sushi, Lasagna and much more. Then in 2005 a partial motorcycle ban went into effect then a full motorcycle ban took place in 2007 so Danny's opened their first Dine in restaurant in the Pearl River New City section of Tianhe, Guangzhou. This restaurant opened on September 21st, 2006 and school catering ceased in June 2007. Now most deliveries are made using bicycles. The restaurant can seat over 100 but in it's current configuration, we can seat 75-90 persons comfortably.
The Food We provide our customers with an authentic, quality western dining experience mostly with tastes and styles from my home town area in New Jersey, USA which has a lot of influence from surrounding states like New York and Pennsylvania. Our menu is filled with an array of value priced, Italian/American style food and classics such as steak, roasted baby back ribs, chicken & fish, fresh salads, hearty soups, traditional sandwiches and desserts. We also have a Kimchi Rice and Beef along with a great Shrimp Fried rice (you have to here). We make everything from scratch and serve nice size portions fresh from the kitchen.
About DannyNew Jersey born & bred I spent the last 14 years over seas. Many years before coming to China my friend and old boss Mike helped me create a resume as the company we were working for was being sold and we didn't care much for the new owners so it was time to write a resume or in asia a "CV". The last thing I filled out was interests and "International Travel" popped into mind from the many trips to Santo Domingo, Mexico and Germany and boy did I travel. The first 3 or 4 years in China I spent traveling and trading and for a guy in the fast paced life of manufacturing I was slowly getting tired of this when we (David, Carl and myself) decided to do something different and why not, they were making bagels in Beijing already. So we opened Danny's Bagel in 1997. That "something different" allowed me to marry my wife Shu Yi and that is Thanks to my best buddy Rick Pisano who I grew up with in New Jersey and introduced me to David and Carl and my brother for allowing me to Travel and taking care of our Mom. I'm not an expert on China but I've seen and experienced quite a bit and for me, a person who loves to study people, there is no better place than a country growing in leaps and bounds and a city at the heart of it all.
